The Attorney General of California is investigating whether twenty six California residents have been improperly dropped from their health care plans.  The Department of Managed Care plans to explore thousands of denied claims and canceled policies over the last four years.  Potentially, a pattern of unfair business practices exists.  Insurance companies should not cancel people’s insurance policies unless the person blatantly lied about their health.  Canceling policies based on illness is a questionable and unfair practice according to the Attorney General’s office.

At this point, the names of companies being investigated have not been released.  However, California’s five largest insurance agencies are being examined.
